Working with Data
Use Claude Code to explore, analyze, clean, and visualize your data files — no spreadsheet formulas required
Working with data
Data analysis is where Claude Code starts paying for itself. If you've ever waited days for someone to pull numbers from a spreadsheet, or spent an afternoon wrestling with pivot tables, this module is for you.
You'll learn how to point Claude Code at your data files and ask questions in plain language. "What are the top 10 customers by revenue?" "How do this quarter's numbers compare to last year?" "Clean up the inconsistent names in the region column."
Claude Code handles the technical work behind the scenes. You describe what you want, review the results, and iterate — the same conversation skills you built in Module 2, applied to your actual data.
What you'll learn
- How to open and explore data files (CSV, Excel, JSON) without writing formulas
- Asking business questions and getting answers in seconds
- Cleaning messy data: fixing inconsistencies, removing duplicates, filling gaps
- Combining data from multiple files
- Creating charts and visual reports
- Building summary reports for stakeholders
- Spotting when Claude Code gets the numbers wrong (and how to prevent it)
- A toolkit of reusable data prompts
What you'll need
- Claude Code installed and working (Module 1)
- Comfort with the conversation cycle: ask, review, iterate (Module 2)
- A data file to work with — a CSV export from any tool you use, or a spreadsheet saved as CSV
No spreadsheet expertise required. No formulas, no pivot tables, no VLOOKUP. Just plain language and your data.
